Francisco A. “Frank” Lorenzo

Francisco A. “Frank” Lorenzo is Chairman and founder of Savoy Capital. Previously, Mr. Lorenzo had been chief executive and principal shareholder of Continental Airlines, Inc. and a predecessor airline for eighteen years. Under Lorenzo’s leadership the airline grew from 8 jets and $73 million of revenue in 1972 to 325 aircraft and revenue in excess of $5 billion, at the time of the sale of his family’s interests in 1990.

Mr. Lorenzo played an active role in the US aviation industry, particularly after its deregulation in 1978. The Lorenzo team engineered the acquisition and turnaround of several carriers, as well as the start-up of New York Air, Inc., in 1980. In addition, the team was greatly responsible for the growth of Continental Airlines in the 1980’s, with its well-located hubs and efficient cost structure, which then merged with United Airlines in 2011 to become the modern-day United Continental Holdings, Inc.
